And the CPSIA has heard our please for help! They have issued a stay for one year, making it so that we don't have to do all the testing on our items and be out of business! Yay! W're not out of the water completely yet, we'll have to go through this potentially again in a year, but hopefully during this year they will fix the law and make it applyable and functional. But it's all great news for us boutiquers! Thanks for all those letters and phone calls everybody made to their congressmen!!

Olivia finally has her own tv show! The girls are totally loving it and at this point I have to record every episode so that they can watch it over and over again. And on the same note, PiperAlley had their Olivia launch starting today, with some amazing designs all coordinating!

How to make iron-on labels

Want a quick tutorial on how to make those labels to put on your bows? Or on your clothing designs? Really they'd work on anything you need to label that is made of fabrics. Like the jackets your kids wear to school and forget to bring home :)

Anyways, here goes!

You'll need :

a graphics design program

printer

printable fabric

heat-n-bond lite

iron

First you need to use your graphics program to create the image you'd like on your label. Anything you'd like! Here's mine:

Save this as it's own image.

Now open another image roughly 8"x10.5", just smaller than a standard sheet of paper. Cut and past as many of your small label onto that page, arranging into rows.

Once you have that finished, save it as it's own image as well.

Load up your printer with your printable fabric. Here's where I get mine:

I find their prices are the best, and I really like their fabric. It feeds very nicely through my printer. Print the page with the rows of labels onto your printable fabric.

Let the ink dry completely, then pull the paper backing off your fabric.

Here's what it should look like:

Now get out your heat-n-bond and iron. Here's what it looks like, its an iron on adhesive with a paper backing.

Lay your fabric (face side up) on the heat-n-bond's adhesive side (not the smooth paper side). Iron on, following the instructions. This will also heat set the ink, so that it doesn't run or bleed. Then cut the page out.

Let this cool completely, then peel the paper backing off. Your labels need only to be cut out and ironed onto whatever surface you're wanting to label. They will iron on quite quickly, you only need about 2 seconds.

I hope this tutorial helps somebody!!

I've been experimenting more with polymer clay to make the centers of my bows, and I think I'm getting better. I still have Sophie make my complicated stuff, but maybe I'll eventually get as cool as her :) It's an interesting event in our house when the clay comes out, because the kids think it's my play-doh. So of course they just can't stay away! I have much cooler tools than they do.

Anyways, I made some creations last night for practice, and here they are!

I can't believe there's already a new line out, but here are the matchies I just listed on ebay for the Lady Daisy line. I absolutely love the color combinations in this line, so springy!
First is the set that I have also listed on my website:

It's got a boutique bow plus a daisy clip in the center. They can each be worn independently of the other, or combine them as seen in the picture.

I also made a set to match the black prints:

And a really cute headband and daisy clippie set. Once again the clip can be worn by itself or attached to the headband.

Here are some new listings I just put up today. This first one was a kind of funny set, I was working on the topper bows and put the base bow, spikes, and egg in a stack just to put them aside. But I liked how they looked just as is! So here they are! The second set is to match LaWanda's pretty outfit for theJills Black and white launch.

Charity listing is up!

I just listed my military charity bow set. I have chosen to give the proceeds to the Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund. You don't have to bid if you're not inclined to, but if you could just add it to your watched list, I would appreciate it. Well, the ebay strike is almost over. It's been very weird to not list there all week, I generally list most every day during the week. So I've been mostly listing on etsy this week and my store has grown a lot! I've been experimenting with making girls' bracelets this week. I already knew how to do it, but I've never done them for anyone other than my own girls or myself. So here are a couple that I listed this week.

I think they are absolutely gorgeous and was tempted to keep them, and my girls wish I would :) But they are currently available in my etsy shop.
I have also listed some patriotic items as I've been having requests for them. I listed a couple sets of my 4th of July firecracker clips today, one set in red and white stripe and blue stars, and another that has red, white and blue stripes.

I look forward to getting back to normal next week and listing on ebay. Keep watching, I'm going to be listing a patriotic boutique set with a soldier/ hero theme. It will be listed for charity as a celebration of returning to ebay.

Also, as a fun new feature, I plan to post the sneak preview pics of the upcoming Gymboree lines. So as soon as I receive the pictures, I'll post a link here on this blog so that you can find them too! The new line coming out is really cute, all turtles and strawberries. I can't wait to create some fun turtle bows to match this. I've already got strawberry stuff ready and waiting, so be watching!

I've been listing on Etsy.com for only a couple weeks now, so I've been putting up items for only 99 cents to build up some feedback and create a customer base there. Crazy, I know. There are a few up right now, along with some other fabulous stuff at regular prices. Here are a couple that I put up today, one butterfly set made to match Gymboree's new Easter line, and a baby headband korker set in pink and brown.
